New Website Will Track and Expose Hate Incidents Against the Asian American and Pacific Islander Community

Washington D.C. — As Inauguration Day approaches, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders fear a new round of hate incidents across the country, targeting many vulnerable segments of our community, particularly immigrants and Muslim Americans. In response to these concerns, Asian Americans Advancing Justice (Advancing Justice), a national affiliation of five leading civil rights organizations, announces the launch of a new website to collect and track incidents of hate targeting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

More Asian American voters to receive language assistance in elections

Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act now covers 45 Asian language groups located in 27 counties, boroughs, census areas or cities. This includes six new Asian language groups that have been added to Section 203 coverage since the previous list was released in 2011.

Sessions’ record of disenfranchising and denying the rights of people of color, immigrants, and Muslim communities should disqualify him for the nation’s top legal position.

Asian Americans Advancing Justice condemns the President-elect’s choice of Steve Bannon as his chief strategist. His potential appointment gives tacit approval to Bannon’s known agenda against racial minorities, women, immigrants, Muslims, and the LGBT communities.
