Ellen Zhou joins Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago as a Community Organizer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social policy from Northwestern University with a minor in Asian American Studies. Ellen has actively engaged in initiatives that promote language justice and support immigrant communities.

Ellen was a core leader of the Immigrant Justice Working Group for the past three years with the A Just Chi base, where she mobilized and educated community members on critical issues affecting the Asian American community. She concentrated on supporting local mutual aid efforts and working on statewide legislative campaigns such as the Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History, TEAACH Act and the Local Educational Agency, LEA Act.

As a Chinese American born in Ohio and raised in the Chicago suburbs, she is dedicated to helping Midwest Asian American communities build power to fight for a more equitable and just world. In her free time, Ellen enjoys visiting used bookstores, rewatching bad comfort TV shows, and karaoke.
